Killing Bees
Killing Bees have successfully captured the anger and animosity, the resentment and disgust that most of us feel about the constant barrage of lies that come from our nation’s leaders. Their debut release acts as a call to action to feed a lust for true change. Killing Bees are a gritty two-piece bass and drums outfit from Hollywood and they lay down a nasty sounding, hard slap-in-the-face, anti-Bush/anti-bullshit sentiment with their self-titled LP. While their structure may appear to be minimal, their sound definitely isn’t. The driving drums compliment the distorted bass lines and together they fill the speakers to the point where any guitars would be superfluous. Nifoussi’s vocals distinctly capture the ideology of the songs—he’s angry and fed up and the listener knows it from the first syllable. In a time where music equals fashion and music fans are force fed the same old/same old year after year, Killing Bees offer a refreshing reminder of the rebellion that rock music used to represent and, at the same time, serve up a huge dose of reality to instigate dissent and independent thought in both their fans and the uninitiated as well. |
